Next, we discussed what information we would need to put in an autobiography. We decided that we need information from many stages of our lives. It was decided that for some of this information we would need to turn to outside sources, such as parents.
On Friday, students decided that a parent interview would be the best option for obtaining information about their early years. Working in groups, students developed questions to ask their parents which would give them valuable information to include in their autobiographies. Students took these interviews home on Friday with the idea that they would be brought back for students to include in their autobiographical writing later in the week. A big thank you to all the parents for helping us out with our parent interviews! :)

Hi Mrs Brown and 3.2,
ReplyDeleteI like the ideas you brainstormed to create your biography mind map. We've been writing biographies in year five too. Some of the ideas you've talked about are the same ideas that we talked about, does that mean your year three students are ready for grade five already? It looks like one of the big differences will be that you are writing autobiographies and we are writing biographies. I'm looking forward to reading some when you're ready to publish. Ours will be on our blog soon too.

I loved the way you worked together to construct your understanding of what an autobiography should look like. This is a great "window" into what you are doing in your class. I hope you show it to your family.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading your individual autobiography.
