Unit 4 comes to a close...

Hard to believe that Unit 4 is coming to an end... Seems like we just returned from Winter Break! Over the last few weeks, students have been busy discussing art, what it is, and how it is used. Students took a trip to K21 to explore "What is Art?", and then explored, with the help of other artists, the arts of illustrating, drama, and music.

As a culmination of this unit, students worked with Fred Schofield (aka "Mr. Fred the Haiku Man") to learn about and write their own Haiku, as well as develop ways to express it through the use of art, music, and drama. It was a busy week but the students enjoyed the chance to explore and learn on their own with guidance. On Friday, all of the Grade 3 classes came together to share their Haiku and present it through art, music, and drama. It was an amazing sight to see!

Next week, we will begin our fifth unit with a provocation at the beginning of the week. As a reminder, please make plans to attend our Math Day next Wednesday, March 2 at 9:40. Students will be sharing activities and games which we use as part of our math program. Looking forward to seeing you then!
